We are more than an event. We’re a MOVEMENT FOR JOURNALISM. An annual gathering of journalists & editors from globally-renowned media, organized by the International Press Institute (IPI).

This year’s IPI World Congress was moved online for the first time in our 70 year history, but we hope to be back in real life in New York next year. We’re working with our hosts at Columbia University to set the dates for September 2021, so stay tuned here for any updates.

Bio of Jamil Ahmed:Jamil Ahmed obtained his Masters degree in English Language and Linguistics following completion of a BA in English Literature. Has has completed MPhil in Local Governance & Public Administration. He had a advanced training on ‘Civil Society Outreach’ from Institute of Development Studies (IDS), UK and had a diploma in Journalism from Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB). He received advanced training from CARE International, Atlanta, USA. He was awarded Eisenhower Fellowship (USA), 2012 on Strategic Leadership Development by US State Department, US Government. Jamil Ahmed has over 25 years of professional experience in Program Development and Management, especially in the areas of program design, develop and implementation, Specialized in relationship building with civil society, Policy advocacy campaign, BCC/IEC materials development and information dissemination, Efficient in training facilitation, moderating and anchoring.  Jamil Ahmed worked with renowned National and International agencies including BBC London, The Daily Star, The Daily Prothom Alo, Action Aid - UK, Save the Children-USA, USAID funded Governance programs, TIB & CARE-USA. Jamil Ahmed is pursuing his PhD. on ‘Role of Media in Disseminating Local Governance Policy Reform Agenda in Bangladesh’. Jamil Ahmed was the Founder Executive Director of Journalism Training and Research Institute of USAID/BRAC University. Currently serving as the Director at North South University - NSU (Responsible for Public Affairs, GoB Relations, Media Communications & National & International Partnerships).
