IPIWoCo 2020   I  September 10 – 12, 2020
FREE MEDIA. FREE WORLD.
70 Years of Defending Press Freedom

Be part of something different at the IPIWoCo 2020, organized by the International Press Institute (IPI).

When the powerful make truth a matter of debate, our communities need journalism they can trust more than ever. That’s the great responsibility this age has given us.

If you care about how we advance, protect and sustain a journalism that shines a light on the issues that matter with the power of storytelling, then we have a plan. Let’s do it together!

At IPIWoCo 2020, we’re more than a conference. We’re a movement for journalism.

For two and a half days, we’ll put journalism at the centre of the world. Join us to talk about it, think about it and celebrate what journalism is – and can be. Join us as we journey beyond the noise to the heart of what matters: journalism that informs our communities, makes sense of the world we live in, and holds power to account. But for journalism to thrive it needs the infrastructure that supports it:
  • Stories you can trust: the best of journalism in the (dis)information age – from around the world and around the corner.
  • The rights that let us do our job: press freedom, safety and a democratic media environment, all of which are under threat globally.
  • A media business that sustains us: understanding our audience and the opportunities technology offers to deliver journalism and news products that delight and serve our communities.
For 70 years, IPI has defended and promoted press freedom and independent journalism. The IPIWoCo is our flagship event and a top international forum for discussing these issues, gathering more than 300 leading media professionals from over 40 countries each year. We’ll debate, present, mentor; we’ll share our ideas, passions, failures and stories in discussions, presentations, masterclasses and workshops, one-on-one, on stage and over lunch and dinner.
