We are more than an event. We’re a MOVEMENT FOR JOURNALISM. An annual gathering of journalists & editors from globally-renowned media, organized by the International Press Institute (IPI).

This year’s IPI World Congress was moved online for the first time in our 70 year history, but we hope to be back in real life in New York next year. We’re working with our hosts at Columbia University to set the dates for September 2021, so stay tuned here for any updates.

As part of its High Risk team, Sally advises and assists BBC staff and contracted freelancers on safety and security across a range of programming including breaking news, investigations and natural history and science documentaries. The BBC High Risk and News Safety team guides the risk management of tasks, are part of the incident management response when it goes wrong, advises on overseas staff threats, and also deploys on the ground with teams. Sally is also involved in the delivery of safety training to overseas bureaus, the maintenance and assessment of safety standards, and response to threats against staff. She runs the Managing High Risk Deployments course for the BBC which prepares individuals who authorize tasks, or would be the first point of contact in an incident. Sally is a board member at the ACOS Alliance.
